Aims and Scope:Metabolic Engineering (MBE) is devoted to the publication of original research papers on the directed modulation of metabolic pathways for metabolite over production or the improvement of cellular properties. Papers describing native pathway engineering and synthesis of heterologous pathways for converting microorganisms into microbial cell factories are also welcome.Experimental, computational, and modelling approaches for the elucidation of metabolic pathways and their manipulation by genetic, media, or other environmental means are presented. Efficient probing of metabolic pathways requires the application of appropriate methods from molecular biology and biochemistry, along with modeling and data analysis techniques from engineering. MBE provides a forum for communicating such interdisciplinary research, as well as relevant results in the constituent areas of biochemistry, molecular biology, applied microbiology, cellular physiology, cellular nutrition in health and disease, and biochemical engineering.Types of papers:Original Research Papers, Review Papers.

Metabolism promotes excellence in research by publishing high-quality original research papers, fast-tracking cutting-edge papers, research brief reports, mini-reviews, and other special articles related to all aspects of human metabolism. Work considered for publication in Metabolism includes studies in humans, animal and cellular models. Work with strong translational potential is prioritized. Metabolites (ISSN 2218-1989) is an international, peer-reviewed open access journal of metabolism and metabolomics. Metabolites publishes original research articles and review articles in molecular aspects of metabolism relevant to the fields of metabolomics, metabolic biochemistry, computational and systems biology, biotechnology and medicine, with a particular focus on the biological roles of metabolites and small molecule biomarkers.

Metabolomics publishes a substantial share of the most significant current research in the areas of various-technology platform development for metabolomics, metabolite target analysis, metabolic profiling and metabolic fingerprinting; progress in data preparation, storage, curation and analyses; comparative integrated studies with transcriptomics and proteomics including within a systems biology context; and the application of metabolomics as it relates to man, animals and plants.Metabolomics includes wide-ranging and rigorously peer-reviewed research papers and reviews ; a comment section for responses from readers on articles published; conference announcements and reports; funding initiatives and other metabolomics topics; occasional special issues focusing on subjects of particular interest.  Metabolomics publishes six issues a year.  Metabolomics is the official journal of the Metabolomics Society.

Metallomics publishes original research and topical reviews which provide insight into the role of metals, metalloids and trace elements in the biosciences with an emphasis on a global approach. Example topics in the biosciences include, but are not restricted to the following: Structure and function of metals in biomolecules; Mechanisms of metals, metalloids and trace elements in health and disease; Genetic, epigenetic, and molecular regulation of the uptake, accumulation and metabolism of metals, metalloids and trace elements; Toxicological and nutritional interactions of metals, metalloids and trace elements; Elemental cycles between the biosphere and geosphere; Interactions among nanoparticles, metals and metal-containing biomolecules in biological systems; Elemental speciation and biodistribution (kinetics, flux, dynamics); Novel analytical approaches to global metal, metalloid and trace element characterization in biological systems and Bioimaging and localization of metals, metalloids and trace elements in cells, organelles and systems.

Methods focuses on rapidly developing techniques in the experimental biological and medical sciences.Each topical issue, organized by a guest editor who is an expert in the area covered, consists solely of invited quality articles by specialist authors. Issues are devoted to specific technical approaches with emphasis on clear detailed descriptions of protocols that allow them to be reproduced easily. By releasing the hidden gems from your lab book, you can get credit for the time, effort and money you've put in to making methods work for you. And because it is open access, it is even more visible and citable, giving your work the exposure it deserves.

MethodsX provides an outlet for technical information that can be useful for others working in the same field, and help them save time in their own research, while giving you the deserved credit for your efforts. Since this is relevant for any field doing experimental work, MethodsX welcomes submissions from all research areas.

MethodsX puts the technical aspects of your work into the spotlight. Publish essential details of the tweaks you have made to a method, without spending time on writing up a traditional article, with detailed background and contextual information. Your MethodsX article showcases the work you've done to customize a method. It's that simple.

A MethodsX article features:

• an abstract to outline the customization
• a graphical abstract visual to illustrate what you've done
• the method(s) in sufficient detail to help people replicate it, including any relevant figures, tables etc
• up to 25 references to the original description of the method you're using

While keeping focused on the technical aspect of the work, evidence of the efficiency of the method and/or comparison with pre- existing protocols needs to be provided. This should be immediately evident to the reader.

Before submitting, please make sure your manuscript complies with the following criteria:

1. The article is written in standard English and clearly understandable
2. The manuscript adheres to the MethodsX format, see the http://www.elsevier.com/journals/methodsx/2215-0161/guide-for-authorsauthor guidelines
3. Control data supporting the claims made are included: evidence of the efficiency of the method and/or comparison with pre- existing protocols is provided
4. The method should describe a change over established practices

Microbial Cell Factories is ready to receive manuscripts on all aspects of the development, use and investigation of microbial cells as factories for production of both natural products and recombinant proteins.

We are entering a new and exciting era of microbiological study and application. Recent advances in the now established disciplines of genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics, together with extensive cooperation between academic and industrial concerns, have brought about an integration of basic and applied microbiology as never before. Microbial Physiology aims to reflect this development by publishing original research papers from all areas of microbiology and biotechnology.
