Welcome to the University of Turku Journal Guide

The Journal Guide gives you peace of mind when selecting journals. If you are a researcher from the University of Turku you can look up your favorite journals or search and filter to get to a selection of journals that match your research. Select a funder to see whether the journals are compliant or not, and check the filter ‘Journals with agreements’ to limit the list to journals for which the APCs are fully or partially waived.

Challenges — Journal of Planetary Health

eISSN: 2078-1547
DOAJ Logo

Challenges (ISSN 2078-1547) is a unique international scientific open access journal. It publishes scholarly content which is typically not publishable in traditional research journals, such as research proposals (funded and unfunded), research plans (e.g., a protocol for a systematic review, further research of a technology application, etc.), research or technology ideas, policy studies relating to science and scholarly research, open contests aiming at solving grand challenges, prize announcements, description of prototypes, calls for or description of international research collaborations or complementary support, etc. Manuscripts submitted to Challenges must comply with the highest scientific standards and will be peer-reviewed before a decision regarding possible publication in the journal is made. For funded research proposals, the peer-review process will be skipped and manuscripts published after copy-editing and with comments from the grant review attached, if available. In addition, authors will benefit from discounts on possible publication charges if they subsequently submit papers related to the research project to other MDPI journals.

Change: The Magazine of Higher Learning

ISSN: 0009-1383eISSN: 1939-9146
JUFO Level 1
Change,  which is published six times a year, is a magazine dealing with contemporary issues in higher education. It is intended to stimulate and inform reflective practitioners in colleges, universities, foundations, government, and elsewhere. Using a magazine format rather than that of an academic journal, Change spotlights trends; provides new insights and ideas; and analyzes the implications of educational programs, policies, and practices.

Over the past few years, the magazine has included articles on the assessment of student learning and engagement, MOOCs and other developments in online education, international higher education, the use of social media in teaching and learning, competency-based credentialing, effective educational practices, learning styles and the insights gleaned from the learning sciences, the college completion agenda, state performance initiatives, and interstate cooperation on licensing out-of-state providers, among others. It features the voices of students describing their college experiences and of faculty about their teaching practices, as well as the perspectives of higher education leaders on important current issues. It includes, as well, descriptions of books worth reading, data analyses, and historical perspectives on current issues.

Audience
Change is intended for leaders in colleges and universities, as well as those in other settings who have a stake in higher education. These include faculty, administrators, trustees, state and federal officials, foundation officers, students, and many others.

Changing English: Studies in Culture and Education

ISSN: 1358-684XeISSN: 1469-3585
JUFO Level 1

Changing English is an established journal for English teachers in primary, secondary and tertiary education. The journal aims to encourage international dialogue between teachers and researchers and to support teachers and schools on issues surrounding literacy and language. In particular, Changing English considers the future of English as a subject in the context of its history and the scope for development and change.Recent years have seen new arguments and new contents offered for English in many countries, at a time when governments have given issues in English teaching a new prominence and where students' linguistic and cultural backgrounds are diverse. Changing English provides a forum for necessary debate and for evaluation of new perspectives. The editors encourage articles and reviews from writers concerned with English teaching worldwide. Contributions are welcome which discuss developments in aspects of language, literacy and literature teaching in all areas of the curriculum.Peer Review Statement:All research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by at least two anonymous referees.

Channels

ISSN: 1933-6950eISSN: 1933-6969
DOAJ Logo
JUFO Level 1

Channels is the first international peer-reviewed journal to focus exclusively on all aspects of ion channel and ion transporter/exchanger function. This includes papers on biophysics, structure, molecular biology, structure-function analysis, and regulation of channels and ion transport proteins, as well as their roles in health and disease. We also encourage submission of manuscripts concerned with physiological aspects that branch into areas such as neuroscience and cardiovascular sciences, provided that channels and/or transporters are the main focus of such studies. There are no limitations on technical and experimental approaches that will be considered. The goal is to foster communication and rapid exchange of information through timely publication of important results using traditional (print) as well as electronic formats (online). The overriding criteria for publication in Channels are originality, scientific merit and general interest. Channels is a bi-monthly publication.Categories of manuscripts include original research, reviews, article addenda, commentaries and meeting reports. All manuscripts are sent for in depth peer review, however, the editorial board will consider reviewer reports from submissions to leading journals such as Nature, Science and Cell for accelerated review. Our goal is for Channelsto become the leading journal in the ion channel and transporter fields.

Chaos, Solitons and Fractals

ISSN: 0960-0779eISSN: 1873-2887
JUFO Level 1

Chaos, Solitons & Fractals aims to be a leading journal in the interdisciplinary field of Nonlinear Science, and Nonequilibrium and Complex Phenomena. It encourages the submission of articles on the following subjects in this field: dynamics; non-equilibrium processes in physics, chemistry and geophysics; complex matter and networks; mathematical models; computational biology; applications to quantum and mesoscopic phenomena; fluctuations and random processes; self-organization; social phenomena. The journal can only accept papers whose primary subject area lies within the above Aims & Scope. In particular, please take notice of the following:• Papers of a more applied or engineering nature can be considered when they are closely connected to one of the subjects of the journal and contribute to a better understanding of that subject.• In order to be acceptable, manuscripts on integrable systems should at least attempt a connection to physical insight or new qualitative features. The word “Solitons” should be understood as a label especially extended to all nonlinear integrable systems in complex natural phenomena. The paper should not bear on some explicit formulae, some standard solutions, constructions, or asymptotic methods.• The journal is interested in articles providing strong insights in the mathematical theory of fractals that play an important role either in understanding the general theory or are profound for an important particular application, especially in complex systems. Numerical computations should only assist the developed results. Also welcome are the discovery of new fractals that are crucial for important applications. The subject listing is specified further in the journal's classification list. Authors are required to specify matching classifications upon submission of their work.Note for authors:Plagiarism is unethical behaviour and is not tolerated at Chaos, Solitons & Fractals. All manuscripts submitted to Chaos, Solitons & Fractals will be checked for originality using the CrossCheck database. For more information on CrossCheck, please visit http://www.crossref.org/crosscheck.html
