Welcome to the University of Turku Journal Guide

The Journal Guide gives you peace of mind when selecting journals. If you are a researcher from the University of Turku you can look up your favorite journals or search and filter to get to a selection of journals that match your research. Select a funder to see whether the journals are compliant or not, and check the filter ‘Journals with agreements’ to limit the list to journals for which the APCs are fully or partially waived.

Gene Reports

eISSN: 2452-0144
JUFO Level 1
Gene Reports publishes papers that focus on the regulation, expression, function and evolution of genes in all biological contexts, including all prokaryotic and eukaryotic organisms, as well as viruses.

Gene Reports strives to be a very diverse journal and topics in all fields will be considered for publication. Although not limited to the following, some general topics include:

  • DNA Organization, Replication & Evolution -Focus on genomic DNA (chromosomal organization, comparative genomics, DNA replication, DNA repair, mobile DNA, mitochondrial DNA, chloroplast DNA).
  • Expression & Function - Focus on functional RNAs (microRNAs, tRNAs, rRNAs, mRNA splicing, alternative polyadenylation)
  • Regulation - Focus on processes that mediate gene-read out (epigenetics, chromatin, histone code, transcription, translation, protein degradation).
  • Cell Signaling - Focus on mechanisms that control information flow into the nucleus to control gene expression (kinase and phosphatase pathways controlled by extra-cellular ligands, Wnt, Notch, TGFbeta/BMPs, FGFs, IGFs etc.)
  • Profiling of gene expression and genetic variation - Focus on high throughput approaches (e.g., DeepSeq, ChIP-Seq, Affymetrix microarrays, proteomics) that define gene regulatory circuitry, molecular pathways and protein/protein networks.
  • Genetics - Focus on development in model organisms (e.g., mouse, frog, fruit fly, worm), human genetic variation, population genetics, as well as agricultural and veterinary genetics.
  • Molecular Pathology & Regenerative Medicine - Focus on the deregulation of molecular processes in human diseases and mechanisms supporting regeneration of tissues through pluripotent or multipotent stem cells.

Gene Reports encourages http://ees.elsevier.com/genrep/submission of novel manuscripts that present a reasonable level of analysis, functional relevance and/or mechanistic insight. Gene Reports also welcomes papers that have predominantly a descriptive component but improve the essential basis of knowledge for subsequent functional studies, or provide important confirmation of recently published discoveries.

The primary criteria for acceptance are that the work is original and scientifically sound. The journal appreciates that standards of novelty are arbitrary, differ among disciplines and geographic locations, as well as change with time. In partnership with http://www.journals.elsevier.com/gene-reports/editorial-board/Editors, Referees and Authors, the journal will promote the revision of papers to ensure that accepted papers are reasonably complete and competitive with concurrent submissions in a given field.

Gene Therapy

ISSN: 0969-7128eISSN: 1476-5462
JUFO Level 1

Gene Therapy covers both the research and clinical applications of the new genetic therapy techniques currently being developed. Over the last decade, gene therapy protocols have entered clinical trials in increasing numbers and as they cover a wide spectrum of diseases, these studies promise to unite the diverse organ-based specialities into which modern medicine has become divided. Gene Therapy covers all aspects of gene therapy as applied to human disease, including: * novel technological developments for gene transfer, control and silencing * basic science studies of mechanisms of gene transfer and control of expression * preclinical animal model systems and validation studies * clinical trial reports which have significant impact for the field * gene-based vaccine development and applications * cell-based therapies including all aspects of stem cells and genetically modified cellular approaches.

The peer-reviewed open access journal Le foucaldien publishes interdisciplinary research along the lines of the philosopher and historian Michel Foucault (1926–1984) in English, German, and French. The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy credits Foucault with being "the author most frequently cited in the humanities" at the beginning of the 21st century, but his concepts are challenged in emerging fields such as media studies, digital humanities, post-colonialism, new materialism, and science and technology studies. Hence the main focus of Le foucaldien lies on updating and operationalizing Foucauldian approaches in preferably plain language.

The journal's publisher, the Open Library of Humanities (OLH), is a not-for-profit charity financed by an international consortium of academic institutions. Due to its non-commercial business model, the OLH does not charge any author fees. Le foucaldien's articles are peer-reviewed, published under a CC BY open access license, indexed in all major databases, and archived long-term in HTML, PDF, and XML. For details on the submission process, please check the author guidelines.

The journal is published as a continuous volume and issue throughout the year. Articles go online as soon as they are ready to ensure that there are no unnecessary delays in getting knowledge publicly available. Special Collections are published as part of the normal issue, but also within separate webpages. Le foucaldien is edited by Maurice Erb, Simon Ganahl, and Patrick Kilian, who are assisted by Oriane Petteni and Sergej Seitz and supported by an editorial board of highly renowned scholars. For news around the activities of the journal, please visit us on the foucaultblog, follow us on Twitter, and like us on Facebook.

General Hospital Psychiatry: Psychiatry, Medicine and Primary Care

ISSN: 0163-8343eISSN: 1873-7714
JUFO Level 1

General Hospital Psychiatry explores the many linkages among psychiatry, medicine, and primary care. In emphasizing a biopsychosocial approach to illness and health, the journal provides a forum for professionals with clinical, academic, and research interests in psychiatry's role in the mainstream of medicine. The journal expands on traditional models of consultation-liaison, inpatient and outpatient services in the general hospital to address all aspects of ambulatory, inpatient, emergency, and community care. In response to the unpredictable nature of contemporary life, the journal explores the role of emergency psychiatry in addressing personal, social, political, and forensic responses to stress and trauma. Studies of multisystem relationships between stress, illness, psychosocial factors, inter- and intra-personal relationships, family dynamics, ecological change, and institutional forces are especially relevant to the journal's objectives.General Hospital Psychiatry will publish original articles, case reports and brief communications on: biopsychosocial approaches to medicine; liaison-consultation psychiatry; psychosomatic medicine; emergency and crisis psychiatry; the relationship of psychiatric services to general medical systems; and new directions in medical education that stress psychiatry's role in primary care, family practice, and continuing education.
