Journal of Evolutionary Biology

ISSN: 1010-061XeISSN: 1420-9101
JUFO Level 2

The Journal of Evolutionary Biology is a bimonthly, peer-reviewed, international journal. It covers both micro- and macro-evolution of all types of organisms. The aim of the Journal is to integrate perspectives across molecular and microbial evolution, behaviour, genetics, ecology, life histories, development, palaeontology, systematics and morphology. To fulfil its integrative role, the Journal gives preference to papers that bring together two or more fields. The Journal seeks a balance, even a tension, between theory and data. The Editorial Board reflects the multidisciplinary role of the Journal and its international focus. Please note: papers that are narrow in scope, and/or address an issue from a circumscribed taxonomically-oriented view rather than emphasise general evolutionary issues, are liable to editorial rejection.

Journal of Experimental Marine Biology and Ecology

ISSN: 0022-0981eISSN: 1879-1697
JUFO Level 1

The Journal provides a forum for work on the biochemistry, physiology, behaviour, and genetics of marine plants and animals in relation to their ecology; all levels of biological organization will be considered, including studies of ecosystems and ecological modelling. The main emphasis of the Journal lies in experimental work, both from the laboratory and the field. Descriptive studies will, however, be acceptable if they elucidate general ecological principles. Papers describing important new techniques, methods and apparatus will also be considered. All papers will be refereed by experts before acceptance for publication. In all cases proofs will be sent to authors. The editors, referees, and publisher will make every effort to expedite publication and the cooperation of authors in this task is welcomed.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. MOLECULAR AND DEVELOPMENTAL EVOLUTION (MDE) welcomes papers that contribute to a causal understanding of the evolution of development and how development influences patterns of molecular and phenotypic evolution. Papers that take diverse disciplinary approaches, including developmental, molecular, genetic, evolutionary, systematic, ecological, and paleontological, will be published. MDE seeks research articles without page restriction or charges, review articles, invited commentaries, and book reviews. The Editor-in-Chief has discretion over the use of a number of free color plates. Only color illustrations that highlight the text and convey essential scientific information will be considered for reproduction free of charge, subject to the recommendations of the reviewers and Associate Editors.

On behalf of the Association of Field Ornithologists, Journal of Field Ornithology publishes original articles that emphasize the descriptive or experimental study of birds in their natural habitats. Articles depicting general techniques, emphasizing conservation, describing life history, or assessing published studies or existing ideas are appropriate. The Journal publishes studies from throughout the world, which may include banded birds or populations. We actively encourage submissions from nonprofessional ornithologists and from ornithologists from groups underrepresented in the sciences.

Over the last decade, the Journal of Field Ornithology has consistently ranked in the top ten for impact factor among ornithological journals. As an online, open-access journal, we offer rapid progression through the peer-review process and early views on our website after acceptance.

Journal of Great Lakes Research

ISSN: 0380-1330eISSN: 2773-0719
JUFO Level 1

The Journal of Great Lakes Research is multidisciplinary in its coverage, publishing manuscripts on a wide range of theoretical and applied topics in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, and geology of the large lakes of the world and their watersheds. We also welcome contributions on saline lakes. Research on estuarine waters may be considered if the results have application to large lakes. Large lakes generally are considered as those lakes which have a mean surface area of >500 km2 (see Herdendorf, C.E. 1982. Large lakes of the world. J. Great Lakes Res. 8:379-412, for examples), although smaller lakes may be considered, including very deep lakes. For example, the Journal has published papers on the Finger Lakes and, more recently, on Quesnel Lake in British Columbia.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. The Journal of Human Evolution concentrates on publishing the highest quality papers covering all aspects of human evolution. The central focus is aimed jointly at palaeoanthropological work, covering human and primate fossils, and at comparative studies of living species, including both morphological and molecular evidence. These include descriptions of new discoveries, interpretative analyses of new and previously described material, and assessments of the phylogeny and palaeobiology of primate species. In addition to original research papers, space is allocated for the rapid publication of short communications on new discoveries, such as exciting new fossils, or on matters of topical interest, such as reports on meetings. The journal also publishes longer review papers solicited from workers active in particular fields of research. All manuscripts are subjected to review by three referees.Research Areas Include:• Palaeoanthropological work, covering human and primate fossils• Comparative studies of living species, including both morphological and molecular evidence• Primate systematics, behaviour, and ecology in the context of the evolution of the group involved• Functional studies, particularly relating to diet and locomotion• Body size and allometric studies• Studies in palaeolithic archaeology• Taphonomic and stratigraphical studies supporting fossil evidence for primate and human evolution• Palaeoecological and palaeogeographical models for primate and human evolutionBenefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more.
